About this project

Why a timeline?

Indian art is not one story but many overlapping ones. Placing artifacts on a single axis makes it easy to see continuities, such as the lost-wax casting that links the Dancing Girl of Mohenjo-daro with a Chola Nataraja three and a half millennia later, and ruptures, such as the arrival of Persian miniature techniques at the Mughal court.

Each artifact card opens a panel with its date, place, material, historical context and significance, plus a short "did you know" note for presentations.
